Finally, a BIOS update solved this problem for me. I had to reinstall the original windows Vista from the recover partition to use the BIOS flash utility from HP, which is a vista-only application. The reinstall took more than 1h30' and 5 reboots in total, for a less-than-1-minute BIOS flashing. So, as you can see, there are a lot of linux-friendly engineers at HP...
