Sorry - meanwhile I have to reinstall my amd64 notebook due to other circumstances and now testing Ubuntu 64-bit-distribution. The package valid is now
1:0.8.1.6-1ubuntu3 The malfunction is no more reproducible in the form described above. Sometimes the updates last days, the network goes down - but a reboot (logout/login) manages it - other computers reconnected automatically.
