Hello Andy, I do not have a model entry in my /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base and cannot adjust this to my computer. Can I just add a line model=<type> to my alsa-base config file?

For example mine looks like this: > > **** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices **** > card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: STAC92xx Analog [STAC92xx Analog] > Subdevices: 1/1 > Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 > > So I have a STAC92xx codec. Looking in Documentation/sound/alsa/ALSA- > Configuration.txt there is a list of possible model quirks and which > laptops they are meant for.
