sure,
I simply opened the tool,
select an image (i chose the alternate cd for amd64 ubuntu 8.10)
inserted the usb key, and then pressed the `go' button or whatever it
was called.
it reach perhaps 110% or so by the time it was done.
as an aside, the end product usb stick didn't boot, the computer said
it wasn't a valid boot device, but it might just be the hardware and
not the install.
