I can reproduce this in Intreprid since about one month. Note that I
came the upgrade path 7.10->8.04->8.10

DHCP via NetworkManager fails on wireless and wired interfaces.

package 'whereami' is not installed, the dpkg --purge workaround does not work 
even after reinstalling whereami
and removing the non-empty folder /var/lib/whereami

I have no option to reopen this report.
