Public bug reported: I'm installing the JDK 6 and some other java packages with Synaptic. I had a silent crash, the only way i knew was from the notice in the upper left corner. Really the bigger issue here is that Ubuntu doesn't come with the most common programming language in the world, Java, by default. Ubuntu should also come with flash, because i'm sure 99.999999% of people have to install it manually and then you get hacked because it will never be up to date.
