Clemente, You're totally right, I never even thought of that. Instead of rebooting, I just inserted the new module. I'm willing to bet that the next time I reboot, the keys will stop working.
The big issue is that it seems that progress in the kernel Bugzilla report has stalled. We need to get this patch reverted in the main kernel so that we can have working keys again.
