I think it was as simple as adding "vmxnet" (on a single line) to the
file "/etc/initramfs-tools/modules" and rebuild your initrd (using: sudo
update-initramfs -u). Followed by a reboot ofcourse.

This is what I recall from what I did (I had same other projects take up
my time in the mean time).
