Hi, Bengt, I didn't have the file /etc/asound.conf as well, I just created a new one with the contents above. (If you had this file with something in it, you should just append the contents above to the bottom of it.) This file is not specific to the Intel sound device, it is generic for ALSA, so this workaround should work with any card supported in ALSA. Try the solution above, I guess it is quite likely it works for your SB Audigy. Let us know if that's the case...
