Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: samba

Trying to play any MP3 or AVI file over a Windows share fails with an
error that says "Resource could not be read". I get this problem with
Totem, Rhythmbox, and every other xine and gstreamer-based audio/video
player. There are only two workarounds for this:

1) Copy the file to local hard drive
2) Mount the SMB share

I don't even consider number one a workaround if you have a decent
library of movies or music. As for the second one, if you are on a large
network, it would be unrealistic to mount every share.

I have done searches for the problem. After no luck, I posted a thread
on UbuntuForums.org where I eventually got the answer that this was a
bug and how they were surprised that more users don't know about it.

** Affects: samba (Ubuntu)
