You are correct. Both iso images were tested multiple times before release. This issue was not reported before, therefore it is a good assumption that it is within your own configuration. Perhaps there is a separate boot partition installed by Gentoo that Ubuntu installed the file to.
I have installed 8.04, 8.04.1, 8.10, and 9.04 many times on my four hardware systems. Each time, the boot/initrd.img file is installed. I should add that after performing the installation, le live environnement launches itself (both with 8.04 and 8.10). Is it supposed to do so ? Isn't it supposed to reboot instead ?This would indicate the file is normally installed as expected. Perhaps one of these will help resolve this issue for you: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LiveCdRecovery https://help.ubuntu.com/community/GrubHowto > I should add that after performing the installation, le live environnement > launches itself (both with 8.04 and > 8.10). Is it supposed to do so ? Isn't it supposed to reboot instead ? You will get a desktop back, and should get a message asking if you wish to restart to use the new installation after it completes. The desktop cd installation from a live environment does not do an automatic restart of the system after installation. ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: New => Incomplete -- xubuntu 8.04 desktop installation does not install an initrd https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/310687 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
