Yes, in Intrepid, /sbin/update-grup is still a shell script wrapper which does nothing except emit this message. With all due respect, perhaps you could have checked directly rather than go through the motions of asking the submitter.
The regex used in /sbin/update-grub is kind of flawed, the " *" is completely redundant, but that's a different bug. This bug is probably less visible now, because people will have updated the contents of /etc/kernel-img.conf if they were bothered by this message in the first place, and new installations ship with a default /etc/kernel-img.conf which doesn't cause this message to be displayed. ** Changed in: grub (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => New -- Please lower the severity of GRUB's scary message on kernel upgrade/removal https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/73864 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
