I've got the same problem under Ubuntu 8.10 (Ctrl+Alt+Fx results in a blank screen instead of a prompt in a console window). This bug was opened back in May, but it's still marked as "New"; what do we need to do to get a response? Or are we not supposed to use console windows any more in this new GUI world?
