Thanks for reporting this Dave. It looks as though you were attempting to upgrade from Intrepid (v. 8.10 - the most recent stable release) to Jaunty (9.04 - the current development release). Please let me know if that is not correct.
Because Jaunty is the current development release, it does not currently have any "security" updates, nor does it have any "jaunty-updates". All packages currently being uploaded to Jaunty right now are the newest packages available. The two lines you reference above: W:Failed to fetch http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/jaunty-security/Release Unable to find expected entry partner/binary-i386/Packages in Meta-index file (malformed Release file?) , W:Failed to fetch http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/jaunty-updates/Release Unable to find expected entry partner/binary-i386/Packages in Meta-index file (malformed Release file?) are just indicating that these "security" and "updates" sources don't yet exist. If you would like to test the jaunty development branch, you can remove those lines from your apt-sources list (found in /etc/apt/sources.list). Those lines will be automatically re-added to your sources list when you update your system after the 9.04 release is made final. For now, I will close this bug report, as this behavior is expected for anyone who is willing to run early versions of the development release. ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: New => Invalid ** Changed in: update-manager (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: None => update-manager -- error in update-manager -d https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/310006 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
