Yes, that's the really weird thing. When I copy files from ata3.00 (WDC WD3200AAKS-00VYA0) to ata1.00:(Hitachi HDS721010KLA330) I get messages from ata5.00: (ATAPI DVD A DH20A4H) and I'm not even using the DVD drive at the time.
Here's a new dmesg log with a little more information. The last dmesg was taken after a reboot so it didn't contain much. The new log indicates that the problem might not be with the drives at all.
