Chris, I am sorry that I did not reply sooner. I just noticed your email today.
I am running OpenOffice 1.2.4.1-1Ubuntu2.1 Thu Nov 20 09:02:58 UTC 2008 It crashed when I loaded the attached file today. When restarted it crashed on trying to recover the same file. I think it has something to do with the links. When I save a file like this as a doc file I have the same problem both in OO and Word. OO has no easy way that I know of to disable all links and fields in a document at once, but it can be done in Word with ^Shift F9. Once this is done to a document the crashing does not occur. The problem may be some type of copy protection. All of the documents were copied and pasted from the web. All are court cases from WestLaw. All are contain many links.
