Sorry. In that case, I should say here that IF the errormessage would have been similar to the one I got from "alsamixer", I would have solved things faster:
"Cannot find soundcard 'default'..." Because that told me that my system was trying and failing to resolve some card labeled "default". -- "Your audio capture settings are invalid.
