Public bug reported:

Something that is currently quite annoying to me is the fact that the
install cd cannot be used to upgrade a Dapper system to Edgy. I'm aware
that the alternate cd is required to do this, but I cannot see the sense
in having to download an entire new .iso just to upgrade my Dapper
system when I have already downloaded the base install of Edgy in the
past aka the Install CD.

Please, reinstate the ability to upgrade from the install cd. It
hopefully should be a trivial task (every Debian based distro I have
ever used has this ability) and it would make both my and I'm sure many
others lives much easier. Having to download 500mb off of packages or a
new .iso that contains software we have already downloaded just seems
like a waste to me.

If you are wondering why I don't just do a fresh install, the answer is
that the installer is so slow on my 1ghz 512mb ram laptop that I'd
almost be better off downloading the alternate .iso and doing it that
way (text based installer fallback? I'll log another feature request for
that).
