I have this same problem, but it also has stopped me using the back buttons, any of my history, most of the toolbar buttons and the address bar works in a crippled way. All of my extensions have stopped working, yet I can still load flash scripts. This has effectively stopped me from using firefox, and I am using seamonkey currently.
