I've been running Jaunty for a while now, but only today upgraded to the 2.6.28 kernel. After doing that and upgrading a bunch of xorg packages, gnome-session will not complete. + Interestingly, a new user does not have this problem (SCIM setup is + running for this new user, possibly related?). Because Xorg didn't start all the way, I launched a gnome-terminal from the console with 'DISPLAY=:0.0 gnome-terminal', then took the screenshot and ran the various commands for the attached files from within X.
