2 Daniel Eckl, There is one solution which I am utilising currently. I picked it up at one of the russian Linux forums and it did work for me! It is a dirty and slightly stupid hack, which could possibly have some consequences, however, for a time being it did not have any on my machine. So, install and launch gnome-volume-manager (a daemon to auto-mount and manage media devices) and leave it running in your KDE session. It will be launched automatically if you have the option 'restore your previous session' enabled in your KDE settings. If not, put it in Autostart. It seems to me that the pmount is being used in that case. It will also require installation of some additional packages, which was not very painful for me, as I compile and use some Gnome (GTK) programs under KDE.
