Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.
gksudo is used gain root privledges, so if you click "Check" just before hand 
to update the list of packages, it will not need to ask for the password again 
to Install the updates.

If this is not the case, are the updates still installed or do they fail
to install?
