I was not aware of apport-cli, which seems to be what I want, except it seems to require a www browser installed (not always the case on a server). However I think I can live with this limitation, assuming it actually exists.
Stop working? Why have a broken package in the distro? Why not just remove it from Ubuntu (for now)?
