I confirm this bug while trying to fix my girlfriend's computer.
Just after upgrading to Intrepid sound stops working on Toshiba Satellite
L35-S2174. Not so surprisingly, I don't have pleasant experiences on installing
Linux systems on Toshiba laptops.

Adding 'model=hp' to '/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base' just give us sound from
the headphones. That's not bad at all once they wasn't working before
this update. I've never tried to find out the reason for previous
problems either. Well. Just hope that next releases come to fix this
problem. I don't want her to keep carrying this laptop and the speakers
as well.

Thanks for the nice job on Ubuntu.
