I tried it myself and zeddock is right. You have to do something like this:
sudo apt-get remove flashplugin-nonfree sudo apt-get autoremove (removes nspluginwrapper and others) then go to usr/lib/firefox/plugins usr/lib/mozilla/plugins and in each case, remove the symbolic links in the plugin directories pointing to nspluginwrapper and put the downloaded libflashplayer.so instead.
