Hello, breaking news: I discovered a certain pattern in my laptop's behavior regarding this brightness issue. Whenever a kernel upgrade (from official packages) is performed, the first boot with the new kernel is always good (i.e. i can adjust brightness), while all subsequent boots are NOT. Any ideas why this might be happening?? I'm really puzzled. TIA.
