although I am not home right now and wont be for a few days, I am having the same issue as the original poster.
I have the same integrated graphics chip, and when i try to install the drivers, doesnt matter which version I try to install, the screen goes out of sync after restart. I have to go into the startup settings and hit fix packages to get the screen to just go back to 800x600 and display. (this is with an older lcd screen, (1280x1024) I can get it the system to display if i hook up a 1680x1050, BUT then when i try to go into the display settings, the screen will black out again, as soon as i click the Icon! this is crazy. Right now my computer is stuck with the basic driver, and running at 800x600. -- Nvidia 6100 no graphics with nvidia-glx-177 or nvidia-glx-173 in Xubuntu 8.10 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/302953 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
