Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kdemultimedia
Description: Ubuntu 8.10 Release: 8.10 If I click the kmix applet and try to unmute the main channel (called "Speaker"), then the tick disappears from the mute button, but sound is not unmuted. If I open the kmix mixer window, the Speaker channel is still shown as muted. I can toggle the muted button in the mixer window and it has no effect on the muted setting in the applet's menu; it also doesn't unmute sound. In alsamixer there is also a Speaker channel, and I can successfully mute/unmute sound using it. I systematically tried changing sound levels and muting/unmuting for all channels in kmix, and watching what happened in alsamixer. For all channels except Speaker any changes in kmix were immediately reflected in alsamixer. So it seems that only Speaker has a problem. Note that Speaker has no volume slider, it is only mute/unmute.
