This bug might not be specifically a compiz problem. I can reproduce
this bug using KDE 4.1 and desktop effects (see screenshot attached).
The window shadows get corrupted after suspending to disk/ram.

My system is a fully updated Intrepid Ibex with a Radeon X800. I've seen
this behaviour both with the fglrx and radeon drivers. I use a standard
(autodetecting) xorg.conf and  the following versions:

ii  xserver-xorg                      1:7.4~5ubuntu3      the X.Org X server
