** Description changed: Computer: HP Pavilion DV7-1120EO Distribution: Ubuntu 8.10 AMD64 and x86 With a fresh install (no upgrade) am I not getting any network to function. On the same machine I have also a fresh install of Fedora 10 whith both wired and wireless network functioning. The computer is behind a Belkin Router (as the one I am using now) and network manager reports after "Requesting a network address from the wired network..." that "The network connection has been disconnected" I have googled and searched the forums to no avail. The 32 bit version has the same problem. The DV7 can be used as test bench since I am not in a hurry getting it up and running and my goal is to get UbuntuStudio 64 working on it (I have the same fault with UbuntuStudio 64) This is a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/252307 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/221499 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/208012 I am currently trying to fix it the hard way as described in the above Bug: Downloaded version 8.009.00 from http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&PFid=5&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3 + + This is a moment22 problem, I do not have network access hence I can't get needed parts for building the driver. + I need to somehow move them from this PC to the affected one which most likely is a major undertaking. + Hopefully the forums can provide me with an answer on how to proceed
