Hi Jeremy, I think this may just be an issue with your mixer settings. I myself have a Dell Inspiron 1420 and although my soundcard is one revision older than yours (and I'm also unsure of which codec you use), my built in mic is working here.

I'll also attach the output of my alsa-info.txt file which can be generated by downloading and running http://alsa-project.org/alsa-info.sh with the --no-upload option: ./alsa-info.sh --no-upload Additionally, I've attached a sample recording to prove I'm able to record with the built-in mic. If you are still having trouble with the built in mic, it would be good for you at attach your alsa-info.txt file. Thanks. ** Attachment added: "305525.png" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/20239816/305525.png -- built-in mic not working with snd-hda-intel on Dell Vostro 1710 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/305525 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
