A sdw file is a StarOffice 5 Writer Text Document which is clearly covered by this package.
I agree that it is unfortunate that there isn't a way to selectively associate mime-types with a program depending on plugins, etc that are installed. The way mime-types are associated via freedesktop standard (Gnome/KDE/etc) is via the desktop file in /usr/share/applications/foo.desktop. This file has to declare all associations regardless of whether other packages need to be installed to open the files and there isn't a way to supplement the list via the plugins when they are installed, at least as far as I know. --- "" "Unfortunately though as for now, I still receive a non-ODF document from time to time." Do you still get pre-ODF OpenOffice.org files or just non-ODF Excel/Word files? Those Excel/Word files will work regardless of if this package is installed. "Yes. Again I don't see the relevance of those other formats, they are from a completely different office suite." "" Then why were you bringing up the other formats in your previous email, they apparently are actually supported even without this package despite what you originally claimed? -- ooo-filter-binfilter not installed by default https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/248851 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
