Hi Mr. Ian. Thank you for the reply. Actually, after getting the problems I mentioned in this report, I decided to install Ubuntu 7.10 - because I have the CD installer and I know that I didn't have problems with Internet connection with that version. I resorted to this because I needed the Internet connection very badly. After installing Ubuntu 7.10, I was able to connect to the Internet. Shortly after (a few minutes after installing 7.10) I upgraded to 8.04. I am still using 8.04. I don't want to upgrade to 8.10 yet, but I install updates whenever prompted.
