I installed linux-backports-modules-intrepid and have not noticed any changes over the past few days with it installed. My network card has failed at least 5-6 times during the past 3-4 days while doing everything from nothing to internet browsing to playing Diablo II over TCP/IP through Wine.
I have decided to file a new bug for my issue, as it seems to be slightly different from this one.
