I'm not sure how the term "kill switch" is being used here, but I have
an Acer Aspire 2003WLMI notebook and it has the same issue. When I
pressed external button to deactivate the internal wireless adapter, it
also disables my Belkin Wireless Pre-N card in Network Manager.
Extremely frustrating!

One note: a common suggestion to this problem on other forums has been:
"Just disable the internal wireless card in the BIOS!" Unfortunately,
on my specific model of notebook, even when using the latest version of
the BIOS, there is no way to disable the internal wireless in the BIOS.

We definitely need a software solution for disabling different network
devices, one-by-one, in Ubuntu.
