Public bug reported:

I recently upgraded from 8.04 to 8.10, I had no problems with previous
versions.

The upgrade went fine, I have a software raid 1 array that I boot from,
LILO does the booting because GRUB couldn't handle it when I originally
set the system up (some time ago.)

When the system boots, lots of messages are displayed, it finally
displays;

    [ 39.528541] raid1: raid set md0 active with 2 out of 2 mirrors

It hangs there, I've left it hanging for ages. If I then hit enter, I
get dumped to an initramfs prompt, if I then type 'exit' the system
boots as it should and everything is fine. The server is in a difficult
to reach location so the albeit infrequent reboots will be a pain as
I'll have to take keyboard and monitor so that I can type exit to get
the darned thing to boot.

Anyone experienced this or know how to fix it? I've seen a similar
problem with GRUB not waiting long enough for the root device to come
up, this is clearly a different, yet perhaps similar problem.

Thanks.
