It is not my own PC. I asked the owner to give me the log file with the following steps : 1. Power On your computer and open your session 2. Activate the proprietary 177 driver through System/Administration/Restricted drivers manager 3. Restart and you should get a black screen 4. Restart with ALT+SysRq+S E I U B and do ESC at GRUB boot time to launch the recovery mode 5. When started in recovery mode, choose "root". 6. Copy the log file : cp /var/log/Xorg.0.log /home/toto/Desktop/ 7. Replace the proprietary driver with the free one : vim /etc/X11/xorg.conf "nvidia" -> "nv" 8. Restart with "reboot" command 9. Open your session and send me the log file present on your desktop
He just tells me he can't follow this to the end because when he did the second step, a download/installation occurs and after that, everything works fine (he could activate the desktop effects). So everything is now ok, except I can't understand the problem we encountered first. -- nVidia GeForce 6800 Ultra doesn't work with proprietary 177 driver https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/300790 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
