Changing package from alsa-driver to linux, as per DebuggingSoundProblems on the wiki, since the user does not state having manually compiled a driver.
** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: alsa-driver => linux ** Summary changed: - [Jaunty] Sound no longer works after updates + [Jaunty] Sound muted on boot ** Description changed: - Using Jaunty 2.6.27-7 64 bit kernel on AMD64X2 PC with integrated sound nVidia Corporation CK804 AC'97 Audio Controller (rev a2). - It seems last nights updates have broken sound on my PC. Initially, if I clicked on the speaker icon I got "The volume control did not find any elements and/or devices to control. This means either that you don't have the right GStreamer plug-ins installed, or that you don't have a sound card configured." If I then went to Sound settings top three settings are set to autodetect and capture is set to ALSA. If I then clicked on Test I got "audiotestsrc wave=sine freq=512 ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! gconfaudiosink: Failed to connect stream: Invalid argument". - After that I could not close the Sound Preferences Window (had to do a reboot). Problem still there. - Since then I've downloaded and installed some updates and now when I click on the speaker icon (see screenshot for actual icon) I can see the volume control(s). If I now go to Sound Preferences it look like something has changed as I now get Default Mixer Tracks (which I don't remember previously seeing). I can now click on Test and I get the Testing Pipeline Window, but no sound and if I go to sounds and select log-on sound (for example) no sound is played. + Using Jaunty 2.6.27-7 64 bit kernel on AMD64X2 PC with integrated sound + nVidia Corporation CK804 AC'97 Audio Controller (rev a2). + + After every reboot, mixer controls are muted, so no sound can be heard. -- [Jaunty] Sound muted on boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/296738 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
