It is pretty clear that with the introduction of quad core that 8 cpus is no longer a large machine in terms of SMP and servers are going to commonly exceed that in the near future. Seems we have a few options:
1) modify the server kernel to include these option to allow more CPUs in the standard server flavour, or 2) we could introduce a new 'bigserver' flavour, or 3) we could provide instructions for users to compile their own kernels with these options.
