I can confirm this defect. I have a
0000:00:09.0 Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4401 100Base-T (rev 01) 0000:00:09.0 0200: 14e4:4401 (rev 01) Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. A7V8X motherboard Subsystem: 1043:80a8 I am not sure if it is the problem of dhclient3 because sometimes after boot the process hangs in Dead state and the card got no IP. I think the log entries corresponding to this says the network was down. So was the network still down when dhclient3 started or did dhclient3 only thinks it was down?! I don't know... I try it now with a interfaces preup sleep line.
