Yes, correct paper size was automatically selectet in Cups and every application I tested. The problem also occured in all these applications (Open Office, Evince, Acrobat Reader, Cups test page printing, Ubuntu test page printing).
You wrote that a Postscript output file from Hardy and Intrepid could help you.
