My Dell Mini suffers the same problem...Sometimes all the system crashes after trying using the webcam (with any software, like cheese skype or dell video chat). I hope the solution should be soon backported to hardy (and so to the Dell Ubuntu lpia-version dedicated to Mini) due to the number of customers involved onto this problem
