Subsequent to my debug session I have just tried to rip 5 or 6 CD's using Rhythmbox. On Hardy this was never any bother but I am getting crashes every couple of CD's I put in Rhythmbox just exits with no information at all. At present when I restart it all works fine again, I am guessing that maybe when it crashes it could potentially leave things in broken state but it has not occured so far.
