** Description changed: Binary package hint: xorg First login after boot is perfectly OK (fast and smooth). System is - stable, compiz works grate. After logout or X restart - (<Ctrl>+<Alt>+<Backspace>), GDM doesn't work. I see black screen, after - while gdm try to reconfigure (Ubuntu is running in low-graphics mode) in - low resolution on broken screen (shifted down with artefacts). + stable, compiz works. After logout from X in /var/log/gdm/:0.log the following line could be found: (EE) Failed to initialize GLX extension (Compatible NVIDIA X driver not found) The same problem happens after upgrade 8.04 to 8.10 as well as on clean installation of 8.10.
