I'm just new so will try to provide useful info. Running 8.10 with nvidia GeForce FX 5500. The 173.14.12.1 doesn't seem to work, it will not allow me to enable desktop effects. I was able to install the 96.43.09 and am able to enable effects. But I find when running Konversation all the text will blank out on screen refreshes. The same thing is happening with Open Office applications - anywhere you'd normally see text is blank.
