Public bug reported: Binary package hint: inetutils-syslogd Distribution: Ubuntu 5.10 (breezy badger)
One of the logfiles on my system reached the 2GB limit. When syslogd received a message destined to that log file, it was unable to write the message, and exit()ed. In my opinion, syslogd should not have exited. The reason is that other logfiles (which receive different sets of messages) were still writeable. And at the very least, syslogd should have attempted to write a high priority error message to the appropriate log file before exiting. ** Affects: inetutils (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed ** Description changed: Binary package hint: inetutils-syslogd + Distribution: Ubuntu 5.10 (breezy badger) One of the logfiles on my system reached the 2GB limit.
