Public bug reported: I'm using the latest Opera in the repos(9.27) on the current latest Ubuntu(tried both Intrepid & Hardy) and I'm facing a very annoying bug, while running Opera I get periodic input freezes/stalls which are not equally spaced, each lasts around 10-20 seconds, note that these freezes block all input(mouse and keyboard) and affect all GUI apps not only Opera. During these freezes, the mouse moves but no response happens(toolbar buttons are not highlighted, etc) and clicks are completely ignored, keyboard events are ignored as well, It happens regardless Opera is the active window or not but usually happens more when it's active. I don't use SCIM or other input methods. I've tried running Opera using the following command-line but it's the same: opera -nolirc -nomail -disableinputmethods -debugkeyboard -debugxerror I checked X logs but I don't see anything wrong(but I'm no pro).
The problem happens with the latest Opera(9.62) version as well. Some guys were generous enough to help me with some suggestions at the opera.linux mailing list but unfortunately none solved the problem, see http://groups.google.com/group/opera.linux/browse_thread/thread/bb176bbc30c30a7b note that I have another machine(a laptop) that has a similar software configuration but doesn't suffer from the problem. I have an Nvidia 9800 GT card and I'm using the proprietary driver from the repos(177.80) $ apt-cache policy opera opera: Installed: 9.27-20080331.6hardy1 Candidate: 9.27-20080331.6hardy1 $ uname -a Linux ERROR-PC 2.6.27-7-generic #1 SMP Tue Nov 4 19:33:20 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux $ apt-cache policy xorg xorg: Installed: 1:7.4~5ubuntu3 Candidate: 1:7.4~5ubuntu3 ** Affects: opera (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: freeze input -- Periodic input freezes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/298144 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
