Mario, The fglrx errors I pasted in my previous response are from dmesg. I did not go as far as installing the Xorg fglrx driver via the restricted drivers manager, since it screws up to much other stuff and is a PITA to revert. I just installed fglrx-kernel-source and watched DKMS do it's thing, then rebooted in rescue mode, dropped to a shell and modprobed fglrx.
