The "Input Method" menu of the context menu shows "System" selected. Switching to "Simple" solves the problem.
Similar result can be achieved by resetting the GTK_IM_MODULE_VARIABLE: $ echo $GTK_IM_MODULE xim $ unset GTK_IM_MODULE $ gedit # dead keys work in gedit Now the big question is: What is this "System" input method and why doesn't it work. Maybe this problem is caused by removing this highly annoying scim-gtk2-immodule? Seems like the im-switch program can be used to persist this setting. -- Dead keys don't work: no ` or ^ symbols in gnome applications https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/280813 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
