It appears to be fixed in 8.10. Repeating the above command results in
noise from the speakers and this terminal output:

Also note, that playbin2 is not an official gstreamer element. If I
understood correctly, it is kind of in "beta" status. It's slated to
replace the old playbin element once it is matured, at which time it
will be renamed to playbin.
